What is Tasawuf in Urdu?

Taking the path of spirituality in Islam is called Sufism or Tasawuf. In terms that are more elaborate, the Tasawuf is a division of Islamic knowledge that is related to the divine concepts, selflessness, and spirituality.
Islam is not just a set of principles; it is a complete code of life. The best model of human being that Allah presented to us is our last Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W). The personality of the prophet, Muhammad (S.A.W) was complete in all respects of the meanings of the word.
In Urdu or Arabic, it would be called ‘Kamil’. The completeness or ‘Kamiliat’ in Urdu cannot be achieved by anyone else living or dead in the world.
Therefore, different noble men and women tried to preserve different aspects of the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)’s personality. People who are preserving spirituality are called to be practicing Tasawuf.
The Tasawuf is a word of Urdu language with Persian and Arabic roots, meaning the inwardness. Basically, it refers to the ‘inwardness of Islam’ and that is why it is associated with the spirituality. The Urdu language has a collection of great literature on Tasawuf. In fact, many people learn the Urdu language to get their hands on the Tasawuf books.
One of the basic teachings of anyone practicing Tasawuf is to remain peaceful. The Tasawuf or the Sufism is very much relevant in the today’s world, as there is a dearth of peace, harmony, and tolerance. The Muslims should tell the world through this branch of their religion that they are peace-loving people.
