Urdu Language and Elite Social Circle of Pakistan

Generally national Language of any country is a major symbol of their culture. But unfortunately in Pakistan the elite society almost feel shame in speaking Urdu Language which is the National Language of Pakistan. It normally trend in the schools like Beacon House, The City School, Roots, Frobel's International, International American School the one who speaks Urdu language is considered to be an Illiterate and Paindo (a person who belongs to rural area), and this is not the fault of children who studying there because at younger ages man does what he see from his surrounding and teaching from their parent and teachers. I consider parents are mainly responsible for this that they haven't made the mind of their children in way that Urdu is our national Language and we should feel proud while speaking Urdu because Urdu Language is our identity.

Allama Iqbal was a great poet and Philosopher and Politician in British India. Sir Muhammad Iqbal is commonly known as Allama Iqbal meaning of Scholar (Allama). He conveyed his Philosophy in Persian and Urdu.

National Symbols of Pakistan

Pakistan has different National Symbols such as historic document, a flag, an emblem, an anthem, a memorial tower as well as several national heroes. These symbols were adopted at different events. The oldest symbol is the Lahore Resolution for Pakistan; it was adopted by the All India Muslim League on March 23, 1940.

Foundation of Urdu Language

On the conquest of Lands beyond Indus River, The Muslim armies gathered and set their bases for the battle. The communication between them was very strong because of their faith on One GOD. This was the point when the foundation of Urdu Language. It was started when Muhammad Bin Qasim Conquered Sindh and spread the word of GOD and his messenger.

Medieval Indian Urdu Poetry

The period of Indian medieval is considered to be the time of Delhi sultanate and Mughal Empire between the 13 to 16 centuries. In this period, a massive exchange of culture occurred between Hindus and Muslims. The Indian music had deeply influenced the Muslim’s musical traditions. Similarly Mughal architecture was adopted by majority of Hindus.

Official Status of Urdu

Urdu is national as well as one of the two official language of Pakistan second official language is English. Throughout the country Urdu is spoken by almost 90% person of the citizens. Normally Urdu is second language of Pakistani because on there are 93% of native speaker’s mother language is not Urdu.

Writing System of Urdu

There are four main writing systems of Urdu

  • Persian script
  • Kaithi script
  • Devanagari script
  • Roman script


Persian script:

Urdu is normally written from right to left and it is extension of Persian alphabet and Persian it self is the extension of Arabic alphabets.

Dialects of Urdu Language

Urdu language has four main Dialects which has recognized by Urdu speaker
  •  Dakhani
  • Rekhta
  • Modern Vernacular Urdu (based on the Khariboli dialect of the Delhi region)
  • Pakistani dialect

Dakhani is also known as as Dakani, Deccani, Desia, and Mirgan and it is the local language of Deccan in southern India.
