Dr. Vazir Agha; Urdu Poet, Writer and Critic

Dr. Vazir Agha (May 18, 1922- September 7, 2010) writer, poet critic and essayist lived in Sargodah. Daily magazine named "Auraq" was run by him from decades. He introduce many different concepts in Urdu Literature, The most famous was Urdu Humor. He also wrote different book on modern Urdu poets, specifically on those who has written more nazms than ghazals. His poetry always contains some element of story. He was the Editor of college magazine of Government College "Chanab" Jhang. Then he joined Maulana Salahuddin Ahmad who was editor of monthly magazine Adabi duniya. He was assigned to write different articles about the topics which are generally uncommon in Urdu Literature such as philosophy, economics and psychology. His remarkable work "In search of Happiness" opened new horizons in the research related to Urdu Literature. From 1960 to 1963 he was co-editor of Adabi duniya and in 1963 he was Editor of Adabi Dunya.

Dr. Vazir Agha style of writing was composition of different styles of ballads, sonnets and verse fibre. He was also a great critic some of his famous works are Adam Mein Tanz-o-Mazah (1958), Takhleequi Amal (1970), Urdu Shairi Ka Mizaaj (1965), Tasawuraat-e- Ishq-o- Khird – Iqbal Ki Nazar Mein (1977), Majeed Amjad Ki Dastaan-e-Muhabbat (1991) and Ghalib Ka Zauq-e-Tamasha (1997).
