Man-o-Salwa is an intriguing Urdu novel written by Umera Ahmed. Umera Ahmed is a great Urdu storywriter, novel writer, and scriptwriter.
She started writing almost a decade ago and became popular very soon. The theme of the Urdu novel Man-o-Salwa revolves around the idea of earning Halal and Haram Income. In this novel, Umera Ahmed has compared the Muslims of today with the Bani Israel. Allah Almighty used to provide them with Halal things to eat but soon they became fed up of them. The names of those eating delicacies were man and Salwa. Bani Israel started demanding things that grow from the ground like onion etc.
In this Urdu novel, Umera Ahmed has pointed out that the Muslims today are not content with their Halal income. If they earn only Halal income they accuse Allah Almighty of making them live in the state of poverty.
The characters of this Urdu novel seem to be people living around us. This is because Umera Ahmed is very apt at judging and portraying the right psychology of the people. Especially the character of Shiraz portrays the character of every other boy in the society. The end of the novel of Umera Ahmed is totally justified. Overall, the novel is a very intriguing read.
