After the partition of Indo-Pak Urdu became the official and National Language of Pakistan but still there is a major group of people who are Urdu speaker in India also. Over 100 million people use it as first language or as a second language.
There are almost 400 hundred million people who use Hindi as their first and more 90 million people uses Hindi as their second or third language. Hindi is one of the several official Languages of India.

Urdu speaking community in UK is in majority as compared to the Hindi Speaking community of UK. Mostly in United Kingdom the person who identifies themselves as an Urdu speaker, speaks any other language at home like Punjabi and uses Urdu as a second Language for cultural reasons. Mainly these Urdu speakers are from Mirpur district in Azad Kashmir and west Punjab but some smaller groups are of Gujarati Muslims from India and east Africa also uses Urdu as Cultural / religious purpose.
Majorly Urdu speakers are in West Midlands and London, northern textile towns. According to survey conducted in 2000 on the student of London School. Urdu/Hindi was the fifth mostly spoken language in the capital where there is high density of different native speaker. For this purpose the count of Hindi and Urdu was merged but almost ten times more children said that they spoke Urdu than Hindi.
