Urdu Language - The daughter of Urdu culture

Anyone who knows only a little about the indigenous cultures of the subcontinent might also know about the distinctive Urdu culture. The Indian culture is amalgam of so many different and very distinctive cultures. In fact, this is the beauty of India and Pakistan. So many cultures flourish in these two countries.
Urdu language is one of the majorly spoken languages of these two countries. An interesting fact is that only 8 percent of the population of Pakistan has Urdu language as their mother tongue. However, the fact that Urdu is the national language of Pakistan has made it so rampant.
The Urdu language has a very distinctive history. It is not a very old language if compared to Persian, Arabic, or Sanskrit etc. It was formed by the soldiers of the British Army. Although the low ranked soldiers formed this language, however it clicked with the Mughal rulers of the subcontinent rather quickly.
Therefore, after the soldiers, it was mainly the Mughals rulers who created and designed the Urdu culture. Their intention at heart was to create harmony between the Hindus and Muslims of the sub-continent through a common language. That is why they made sure that Urdu also has considerable amount of words from the Sanskrit language. The Mughals were great appreciators of the poetry. They used to hold Urdu Mushairas in their courts. Due to their special interests and efforts, a distinct Urdu culture was born and embedded in the hearts of the people of the subcontinent.
