“Poetry is ordinary language raised to the Nth power. Poetry is boned with ideas, nerved and blooded with emotions, all held together by the delicate, tough skin of words”.

1. The influences of Urdu poetry on the politics and current affairs
The Urdu poetry is excessively used in the politics. A recent example is the recitation of Habib Jalib’s, “Mein nahi manta” by Shahbaz Sharif in many public processions. Another example is the repeated recitation of, “Dunya ki tareekh gawah hai, adal bina jambhor na ho ga” by Aitezaz Ahmed and Kurd in the lawyers’ movement against injustice.
2. The influences of Urdu poetry on the social issues
The injustices in the society and other social issues are very well addressed by Urdu poets. As example, we can consider the following verse of Allama Iqbal.
“jis khet se kisan ko mayasir ho na rozi
Us khet k her khosha e Gandum ko jala do”
3. The influences of Urdu poetry on the romance
The extent of romance in the Urdu poetry can be judged by this single verse by Momin.
Tum meray pass hotay ho Goya
Jab Koi doosra nahi hota
4. The influences of Urdu poetry on the religious associations
The Urdu poetry is replete with religious element. Examples include Hamd, Naat, and Marsia etc.
